Mechanical garden noise
Many schoolchildren and students are studying online, teachers teaching online, business people holding conference calls or making new financial plans, doctors (like me) holding phone/video conferences with patients. Yes the weather is warm and gardens need care, and it is nice to have peace in the garden to work or relax or work inside with windows open. So PLEASE NO mowers/strimmers/drills/saws/pressure washers during weekday working hours 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm, and until after 11am at weekends to give NHS workers and others their rest. Also we have been asked by villagers not to use machinery after 6pm if your neighbours have small children. Please be considerate and only use noisy tools when necessary and 1-2pm and 5-6pm.
Thank you.

I suspect some of the noise was due to me building an office in my Summerhouse to enable my children to study online and for me to hold conference calls and make new financial plans!! Gary, can I suggest you shut your windows to enable life to continue with some degree of normality during these strange times. Come on, let life go on........

This is a difficult situation with strong views on both sides. There was a thread here (now deleted) requesting that all 'mechanical activity' should take place during the day as they wished to enjoy quiet evenings in the garden. There are other representations requesting the opposite ie no such activity during the working day as it disturbs homeworkers etc and it should be confined to evenings. There is no easy rule. Please have friendly give-and-take discussions with neighbours.
