Cow Warning
I have now heard of 2 incidents where the black cows in the field by the river, accessed by going down the lane past the old chapel, have chased walkers, one of which was my husband.
As the cows had congregated across the public path he gave them a wide berth and luckily he managed to outrun them and got through the gate in time. Walkers please be aware.

If you have a dog and they come after you then let go of the dog's lead, they will probably chase the dog. Do not run, you could get trampled to death. Make yourself big, stand with legs far astride, wave your arms wide, shout, they are actually timid. It is a good idea to carry an umbrella, if you open it and wave it around they are very frightened or maybe carry a stick and wave that around. My father and I stood up to a huge herd in Wales recently who chased us.

If you run from cows they will run after you thinking you are up for a game. Just walk past them quietly and they should not bother with you.
