Thames Farm - Judicial Review
I like others want to understand what is happening here. There is a narrow window for a Judicial Review. I am not convinced that we can rely upon SODC as there is a strong suggestion that privately they may be quite content with the outcome as it has helped their failure to achieve targets for new housing. In my view residents ought to be prepared to do something themselves. I am prepared to do so. Anyone else? http://www.richardbuxton.co.uk/the-law/judicial-review-process

Hello everyone, if you would like to see the objection document that I have this morning sent to John Cotton head of SODC and Toby Newman Chair of Planning plus John Howell our MP, it is here:

Intermediate affordable housing
Equity loan scheme
Shared ownership scheme
There is no discussion on the form of affordable housing nor on how it would contribute to the need in Shiplake. With 40% affordable the remaining 60% will not be affordable and may not be marketable. Henley has enough land within its boundaries to deal with its own housing needs.

Nor does the inspector deal with the need for various types of housing in the Shiplake/Henley area, rather than supporting a development that would encourage migrant residents from the region, attracted by the easy commute to London. There is no discussion of density and size of units in assessing the capability of existing developable land. There are five recognised, though ill-defined categories of affordable housing:
Affordable rented housing
Social rented housing
Intermediate affordable ho

The weight of the Inspector’s report is on the need for affordable housing. He records no discussion of the definition of affordable housing, nor indeed of affordability, in the context of SODC legal obligation to provide it. The shortage of housing in Oxford city is irrelevant to development 25 miles away in Shiplake. That should be addressed by adjusting the city boundaries to give the LHA enough land for its needs. It seems that Counsel for SODC did not challenge it. [truncated]

Ray, I entirely agree with your thoughts and comments. We should be creating a blizzard of complaints to Cotton as should each of our elected representatives be doing so personally ie not simply in a petition. We also need advice quickly on the options to go forwards and strength of case and complete visibility on the actions being taken by OUR elected representatives. Hiding behind political decorum is NOT acceptable.

SODC should challenge this as otherwise they admit they do not have a three year supply and all Neighbourhood plans are worthless. In my view they will not be inclined to do so but rather take the extra houses to add to their supply. Simply asking them to appeal will not work. Some legal action will be necessary.

Thanks for the support Windsor Elaine and Craig and the two Davids and Ben who have emailed me.
I have set up a Crowd Funding page and will provide details when I know the level of support for this idea.

Peter, I have very little spare time this weekend to read / research, if you are asking if residents are prepared to chip in to a legal bill for a judicial review, I would most certainly consider this
