Our Village

I don't post often, unless its about Thames Farm, Mount Ida or some other absurd over zealous development, but walking round the village which I grew up in and now live, it is abundantly clear that my family and i simply live on a building site...suffice to say we are looking at houses away from Shiplake now. With the Wyevale site now set to be a disastrous eye sore, Thames Farms ugly head set to re surface and all our neighbours chopping down any tree with a leaf left... it's time to move on...

Rupert, I had thought to post a thread for some time about the very large number of trees that are sadly being felled throughout the village, destroying wonderful skylines. Had I known one superb specimen in particular was going to be felled I would have applied for a preservation order, I really should apply for one for the 'avenue' at the bottom of New Road: http://planningguidance.communities.gov.uk/blog/guidance/tree-preservation-orders/tree. Are new builds cheaper than restoration?

I am sure there will be lots of people who feel the same way. One doesnt have to have been here very long (43 years in our case) to see that things are changing and realize that they will continue to do so. Of course this is not only happening in Shiplake, but we do seem to have a disproportionate amount.
