Household Waste Recycling Consultation - Deadline for responses 11.08.2016

Oxfordshire residents are being asked for their views on the use of the recycling centres. We now all have to go to Oakley Wood as Reading will no longer allow non-residents to use the large recycling facility by the stadium. If Oakley wood closes, we may have to travel further afield to dispose of our waste.
If you would like to make a comment, the consultation closes tomorrow

As part of securing Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) sites across Oxfordshire, OCC will be seeking a new management contract to operate these sites. OCC would like to know residents' views on measures that could be taken to make savings and to create income, in order to provide the most affordable service for residents of Oxfordshire. Note that this is different to the previous HWRC consultation, which focused on the number and location of sites.

I would go as far as to suggest that actually this issue should be taken up by the PCC via SODC and OCC to get a sensible resolution of a very simple issue. An survey of who uses the facilities from time to time would allow cross charging between the Authorities if it is really necessary to go to those extremes!

Sadly this is a consultation about how the Council can save money by reducing the facilities/curtailing them/charging for them. There is no opportunity to complain about the restrictions that have been made by Berks to prevent non Berks residents using their facilities.
Such arbitrary restrictions are in my view barking mad, and the Authorities should co-operate rather than forcing people to go miles out of their way and increasing the carbon footprint of disposing of stuff. Cost easy to spread
