Hello Ian ... welcome to Shiplake ! We get these flood messages too here in Toast Lane- the short cut to Shiplake station platform. Have never had to act on them..... so far.....

Hi Ian You maybe interested in a dynamic web site that provides the river level at Shiplake. If you search for if you search "shiplake lock river level" high on the search results will be a site with this name. You will see the current height and a trend arrow, this is pointing up. Remember rainfall anywhere upstream from Shiplake causes a delayed river level rise in Shiplake.

I heard a flood warning for Shiplake and Lower Shiplake on radio Berkshire this morning.

Hi Ian, The Environment Agency issues flood warnings when property flooding is expected but for houses in Lower Shiplake on the river/Lashbrook (like mine) it is already too late. Today they have issued the warning when the water levels have started to go down... As the weather forecast is dry for the next few days, I don't expect water levels to go up any further. By all means stay vigilant but I don't think you need to overly worry at this stage. Nathalie McClure (Brookfield)
