My cat was killed yesterday
Yesterday afternoon, my beautiful girl was attacked by a dog in our own garden. She later had to be put to sleep. Our family is heartbroken and we are all traumatised by the experience.
Our house borders the footpath leading to the river starting at the junction between Mill road and New road. For years we have been battling against dog owners who think it is OK to let their dogs roam in someone else's garden. Most people apologise and we never see the dog in our garden again. But there is a small number of dog owners who feel their dogs are entitled to go anywhere they like and take exception to us asking them to keep their dogs on the lead while the walk along our property. To these dog owners and particularly the woman who owns the dangerous dog who killed my cat yesterday SHAME ON YOU. I hope you can live with yourself.
To all other dog owners, all dogs MUST be kept on a lead from the top of the lane until there is no risk for your dog to venture in our property.

Hello Nathalie. I cannot believe you have had to endure this on top of the issue of all the dog poos left on the path. Your little boy must be heartbroken.

Thanks to everyone for your kind messages/emails/phone calls today. It means a lot. Let's hope the awareness raised today helps prevent another tragedy.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I met some rather unruly and out of control dogs during our time in the village and they give the majority of dog owners a bad name. I know the footpath you are referring to and I totally agree that all dogs should be kept on leads until they enter the field beyond your house. We never let our Border Terrier off - apart from anything else it is too close to the road.

How dreadful for you. There are some very arrogant dog owners around. Some months ago I was knocked to the ground by two dogs who were being run around the village with their owners, off their leads. The dogs were probably heading for my own little dog, who was on the lead. A few days later these same dogs, again off their leads, were running on the opposite pavement, saw me and rushed at me again. The owner had the nerve to say we were in the country!

Thanks Carol for your kind words and support, it is very much appreciated. We didn't realise the extent of our cat's injuries until after the woman left with her dog as our cat had gone under a tree to try and hide herself. However she did not apologise and looked rather bemused when my husband was screaming at her to get her dog under control and out of our garden...
